Welcome to the New Zealand Superannuation Fund

This is the website for the New Zealand Superannuation Fund and for the Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation.

This website is intended as a resource for all New Zealanders, and any other interested parties, to better understand why the Guardians and the Fund exist, how the Guardians manage the Fund and why we do it in the way we do, and how the Fund is performing against its important objective.

What is that objective? The Fund pre-funds part of the future cost of New Zealand Superannuation, by investing Government contributions and the returns on that investment over the long term. By doing so, the Fund smooths the tax burden of the cost of New Zealand Superannuation between generations of New Zealanders.

The objective of the Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation is simply to manage and administer the Fund.
