The New Zealand Superannuation Fund hosted the 2016 annual meeting of the International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds (IFSWF), bringing some of the world’s largest and most influential investors to the country.

The conference theme was Investing in a Climate of Change: The Sovereign Wealth Fund Response. Prominent international speakers discussed the world economic context and the impact of climate policy on investment.
The Auckland gathering, from 8 to 11 November, featured technical workshops for members, the Forum’s eighth annual meeting and a conference covering topical investment issues. Sessions covered the New Zealand economy and Māori economic development
The meeting was attended by over 200 people including senior member delegates, observers from multi-lateral institutions such as the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, academia and international financial services firms. New Zealand Government and business leaders also attended the event.
The meeting presented a valuable opportunity to showcase the New Zealand economy and its position as a competitive, well-governed international investment destination.
IFSWF is the leading global network of sovereign wealth funds (SWFs), with member funds from 30 countries. Its members manage assets worth an estimated US$4 trillion ($4,000 billion), more than half of global SWF assets.
Established under the auspices of the IMF in 2009, IFSWF is now an independent body with a London secretariat. The NZ Super Fund's Chief Executive Adrian Orr was appointed its Chair in 2015 for a three year period and has been on its Board since its inception.
