What We Do
What the Guardians do is very simple to explain - we manage and administer the New Zealand Superannuation Fund.
However, actually doing that is more complex.
Investing on behalf of future New Zealanders, including many who have not yet been born, poses unique challenges and opportunities for the Guardians.
In this section we describe why our purpose requires us to take a very long-term perspective, and how having such a long-term perspective shapes our thinking about how the Fund should be run. We discuss the investment beliefs that sit behind and the policies which guide what we do. We also discuss two very important disciplines which are embedded within all of our investment activities; risk management and being responsible. Finally, we discuss what reference points we use - and why we use them - for assessing whether our performance is on target to meet our objective.
